Sending your child to camp can bring a mix of excitement and nerves—for campers and parents. Whether this is your first Camp Jubilee experience or you’re a seasoned camp family, a little preparation and reassurance can go a long way. Here are some helpful tips to set everyone up for a successful and joy-filled time at camp.
Tips for Parents: Trust the Process
- Try to Relax
We know it can be hard not hearing from your camper right away—but that’s usually a great sign! If we don’t call, it’s because your camper is busy, engaged, and having fun. We often say, “No phone calls are good phone calls.”
If we do reach out, it may be to touch base regarding a medical concern, a behavioral challenge, or something minor that we want you looped in on. Our goal is always clear communication and your child’s wellbeing. - Our Staff Are Highly Trained
Your camper is in capable, caring hands. All Camp Jubilee staff complete criminal record checks and participate in up to a full week of training before stepping into their roles. Many of our team members are advanced workers with multiple years of experience in camp settings or related fields and often take on specialist or leadership roles. Safety, support, and connection are at the core of everything we do. - Cabin Life at Camp Jubilee
Our cabins are equipped with power and a two-piece washroom for comfort and convenience. They’re laid out in a horseshoe shape, numbered 1–16, and campers are grouped by lived gender, age, and cabin requests whenever possible.
While we do our best to accommodate all requests, cabin groupings are finalized once campers arrive at Camp Jubilee. If a camper has concerns about their placement, they’re encouraged to speak directly with Mark, our Camp Director, who is always happy to help explore solutions.
Tips for Campers: Make the Most of Your Time!
- Help With Packing
There’s nothing worse than arriving at camp and not knowing where your stuff is! Helping your parents or guardians pack—even just a little—will make it much easier to find what you need once you’re at camp. Feeling organized helps you feel confident and comfortable right from the start. - Speak Up
We work hard to honor cabin requests made during registration, but if something wasn’t noted, it can’t always be guaranteed. That said, we want you to feel comfortable and happy. If you have questions or concerns about your cabin placement, talk to Mark—he’s there to help and wants you to have the best experience possible. - Try Everything
Camp is a special opportunity to explore, experiment, and discover new things. Jump in, try activities you’ve never done before, and see what surprises you. Maybe you’ll discover a love for painting rocks… or even tomatoes! Camp is all about trying new things, building confidence, and having fun.
Camp Jubilee is a place for growth, connection, and unforgettable memories. With a little preparation and a lot of trust, we can’t wait to make this camp season an amazing one—for campers and parents alike.
